How is the Budget Created?Â

The LA County Budget for 2023-24 comes in at nearly $43 billion, making it the largest economy in the United States, and the 55th largest economy in the world.Â
- January: Each County Department submits its budget requests to the County CEO
- The CEO evaluates and makes recommendations to the Board based on these submissions.Â

- Mid-April: The CEO submits the Recommended Budget to the Board
 - May: The Board holds public hearings to discuss the Recommended Budget, allowing stakeholders like community members and County department heads to weigh in.Â
- June: The CEO presents, and the Board approves, the Adopted Budget, which is the final budget for the fiscal year ahead. Â
- October: The Supplemental Budget is released, which incorporates state and Federal monies.Â
